Attending Prospect Kindergarten

At Prospect Kindergarten, we offer a curriculum designed to develop children's confidence, independence, knowledge and understanding of their world in a safe, caring and stimulating environment.

We believe that learning and teaching are owned by both adults and children within the Kindergarten. And above all, we believe that children and adults can laugh, love and learn together.

Please read the Parent Information Booklet to ensure you are up to date and understand all of our policies, procedures and our values at Prospect Kindergarten.

Enrolment

To enrol your child at Prospect Kindergarten, you first need to complete and return our Registration of Interest form (PDF 200KB).

You can return the completed form by mail, in person, or email via prospect.kgn952@schools.sa.edu.au.

Once submitted, registration forms will be reviewed and placements will be offered where available.
If you are offered a place at Prospect Kindergarten, you will receive an enrolment offer letter or email. You will then need to accept the offer and complete the enrolment form for your child.

More information about registering for preschool is available on the Department for Education's website, or you can contact or visit us if you have any questions about enrolment timings or requirements.

Entitlements and eligibility

Each child is entitled to access 4 terms of preschool before starting primary school. This is the equivalent of 1 year of preschool, but it may be split over 2 calendar years.

When your child starts preschool will depend on when they turn 4 years old:

  • Before 1 May: eligible to start preschool at the beginning of that year.
  • On or after 1 May and before 1st November: eligible to start preschool mid-year (term 3).
  • On or after 1 November: eligible to start preschool at the beginning of the following year.

If your child is Aboriginal or under guardianship (in care) they are eligible for 12 hours of preschool after they turn 3. They will then be eligible for 15 hours per week of preschool in the year before they start school.

The Department for Education has more information on starting preschool, preschool catchment areas and your closest preschool.
